St. Verena Church

St. Verena Church
Take a short beautiful hike to the Verena Church, which you can already see from our farm - simply walk uphill across the meadows and through the forest for about 20 minutes. The little church stands beautifully on a rocky hill once polished by glaciers and reveals a unique panoramic view all the way to the Dolomite mountains.
The church of St. Verena was first mentioned in a document in 1256. A Celtic sacrificial site is said to have once stood on this spot. 4000 year old evidence of prehistoric times was found up here on the hill, the oldest settlement site of the Ritten. The church itself is a simple sacral building from the 13th century.
